If yours is much greater, West Seaxe will offer to become your vassal. Once you are at war with West Seaxe for 20 turns, the game will compare your size and leader influence each turn. If you refuse, West Seaxe will declare war in 5-10 turns if you counterclaim and fail, they will declare war as soon as possible. You can submit, refuse, or counterclaim their throne (chance to make them a vassal, based on your relative size and leader influence).
When Ceolwulf dies, whether from age, battle, or random event, West Seaxe will claim your throne to try to make you their vassal. If you succeed, you will then get a mission to outright eliminate Northymbre as well.įrom turn 10 onwards, your initial king Ceolwulf may die suddenly (0-10% chance based on influence, high influence is protective). Once you defeat the starting rebels, you will get a mission to take Mameceaster as a buffer zone against Northymbre.
AI West Seaxe can also do this.Īt turn 21, relations will sour with East Engle as your treaty with Guthrum lapses, and you will get a mission to conquer East Engle. If Mierce has been your vassal for 50+ turns, you can annex them peacefully. AI West Seaxe can get this event from turn 20 on, and has a 90/10 chance to vassalize Mierce vs going to war. If this happens, you can claim their throne to make them a vassal (greater chance of success if West Seaxe has more land and/or its king has greater personal influence). This will also happen to AI West Seaxe, though only after turn 10 and with different odds.įrom turn 11 onwards, there is a random chance that Mierce's king will die suddenly.
